POKOTABI / Ohtani
レストラン オオタニ
Ohtani in Kumanomacho, Itabashi, is a classic yoshoku restaurant serving aged-sauce pork sauté, sizzling hamburg steaks, and crisp katsu curry, rounded out by fresh juices and parfaits.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Set along the Kawagoe Kaido highway, Ohtani serves comforting Japanese-Western dishes that whet the appetite from the moment they reach the table. A cornerstone of the menu is the hamburg steak, ranging from the classic topped with a fried egg to a version blanketed in thick cheddar cheese or the generous Jumbo Burg weighing upwards of 300 g. Coated in a sweet, rich sauce, the hot meat pairs naturally with the free-refill rice or thick, aromatic toast.
The depth of meat choices is another big draw. The Pork Sauté Ohtani-Style is a house specialty featuring pork loin glazed in a slightly sweet, aged warishita-style sauce infused generously with domestic garlic and ginger. Heartier options include crisp, golden katsu atop a deep European-style curry, as well as tender chicken sauté finished with garlic sauce.
Dessert and drinks are equally worth leaving room for, thanks to an impressively wide lineup of freshly squeezed seasonal fruit juices and café treats. Juices made from fruits such as strawberry, melon, and fig share space with layered parfaits and bittersweet coffee jelly, providing a sweet finish to the meal.
With its stained glass and high ceilings lending the air of a relaxed lodge, complete with a dedicated parking lot, Ohtani welcomes everything from everyday lunch runs to relaxed family dinners.
